With a good forecast for today, got launched for 6-30am into a calm glassy sea at Cullercoats. Headed out to a 3mile wreck, but after 4 drifts over, decided to move on as nothing showing or biting. Same at the next wreck, but to be fair, don't think I hit it properly on any of the drifts, so moved on to the can off Whitley, but nothing but a pouting even though the tide was ebbing and fishing at anchor.
20 mins was long enough, so hauled the anchor and tried a drift. Almost immediately, thumping bite to the frozen crab bait which resulted in a nice cod about 7lb
Kept on drifting, but no more fish, so moved back to the previous wreck, using shads, hokais, and lures, but still nowt, so decided to go back to using bait. First drift over and thump, into a cod which was about 6lb, next drift, a double shot. This went on for a while with pouting, some good size ones coming up, all returned.
eventually called it a day at noon, with a nice box of fish, and headed home.
Am I happy..........not half.
