I dont think any of the Hartlepool/Sunderland or Tyne based skippers ever goes past 20 miles! Only the Whitby guys do it.
Peter, I would not name and shame and I would not take deposits from everybody.
What would I do:
A: Get a phone call from everyone the evening before (discussing weather etc)
B: Have a list of people who have ditched you and require a deposit, if they want to come again (paypal)
C: Have a list with customers, who can come short notice, even in the morning and take them for a cheaper prize for exampleLast edited by Guest; 30-07-2012, 12:03 PM.

I thought you threw your rule book away after you embarrassed yourself in the Sapphire saga and apologised for it ?!

"SAPPHIRE" Chartered Fishing Boat, Sunderland,
I would just like to say it"s not up to anyone on this site to remind skippers on how far they can go out ? Now as for dep the angler will have 5 days from the day of call to send a dep if not recived he will lose the date he ask for, then its there money they loseing and not the skippers,Sapphire Charters Sunderland, Wreck, Reef, Rough Ground, Winter Up Tide, COP 60miles, Fully Licensed & Insured, Tea & Coffee, Toilet, Ring me Peter Skipper 07903454745

Used to fish out of Whitby years ago, when the fish seemed to be plentiful.
My mate who was organiser, would take a tenner from each of us (six including
himself),and send a cheque to the skipper as a deposit. These were party trips,so the boat was ours for the day,at a cost of 180 quid,so if anyone cried
off,it cost each of us a little more, the upside being more space. The skipper
always got paid regardless, which we all agreed was fair.If the weather was
particularly inclement on the day,or at least forecast to be,the skipper would
keep the deposit for our next trip out,and for the couple of years i fished on this
boat, everyone got on famously.I don't know if less people go out now,so you
need to cater for individual anglers, but as i say,if you party book a boat, you
should see less of this type of problem.
