its been a while since i wrote one of these
its august this week and i think i have only been out half a dozen times due to the weather on a weekend
So phoned ian [wild321] to see if he could get out as he has relatives stopping from australia
he was concerned about the forcast saying gusts of 23mph
but after telling him it would be flat calm early in the morning he decided to go
5.30 at the free parking near sand dancer pub and on the water
for 6
the sun was up and out we went in search of mackeral
after getting a cod about 4 pound over the wreck and ian a decent pollock , we headed further out near the end of the pier for the mackeral .
we werent dissapoited the first 8 drops resulted in 8 full houses of 3 mackeral
so after a frantic hourhad my fill with about 40 mackeral for the bait freezer and about the same returned
headed back to the wreck to have a go for the cod
had a nice cod of over 6lb at the side of the yak, when the hook just came loose of the main trace and the fish swimming off
will have to check the rest of my storm hokeyes to see if the knots are ok
ian then had a good cod and then we headed in
ians pollock
had forgot my filleting knife so thanks ian for filleting all my fish
seen a few lads on the end of the pier getting full houses of mackeral as we were close to the blocks and the end of the pier jeff
