Well after sitting in the house for a month and resisting the temptation to try it on Tuesday afternoon, Graham and I finally got out yesterday morning. We got out past the piers around 8.30am to a surprisingly calm sea with a gentle swell.

Headed south and had a few drifts which resulted in my first cod of the season!! Certainly not a large fish by anybodies standards but a fish nonetheless!

We tried various spots which resulted in a few fish here and there but no consistency. By lunchtime the wind had completely dropped so I decided to hit a wreck around the 6 mile mark. This proved to be a waste of time due to the ripping tide and the fact that there was nowt there!

So we headed back inshore where we took a few more fish...

By 2pm the predicted easterly had begun to make its presence felt which resulted in a heavy chop and not particularly comfortable fishing conditions..

So around 4pm we headed back. In total we had 8 keepers - best around 4lb. I lost 4 fish throughout the day also so ended up with only 50% of what I had actually hooked!!

All in all an enjoyable day, great to be back out; the water was surprisingly clear also given the recent seas we've had. All fish taken on daylights, hokkis, shads and sidewinders.

    Tight lines

    Cheers
    Dave

Well done. Good thing about Bon Ami the charter boat is it is good when weather worsens but its still hard work.

              Wednesday off Creswell

Good pics..I think that was me in the third photo. Much the same catch plus the pollack on the shad which you saw. I saw a couple of good pollack landed on the boats despite the conditions. Great to get out though at 7 am off Coquet Island I wondered what I was doing there..a good day to have a bit of company.
Fingers crossed for the weather and high pressure over Amble for the whole summer?
