The fog had lifted enough this morning so off to the can to bait fish as the tide was quite strong. Dropped anchor and swung round in the tide straight away. I glanced at the sounder and saw a large shoal of fish passing under the boat,
so quickly dropped the double flapper rig with lug over. Didn't even have time to put the bale arm over when there was fish on, reeled in two coalies. As i re-baited the end of the shoal passed of the sounder, and that was that for the next couple of hours of trying different marks. Picked up a couple of small codling on the next shot, but it was realy slow.
The tide easing, I went to the wreck near the can and got a coupe more codlings and decent pouting.
Kev1n arrived on board "Wor Lass" saying nothing on other wrecks he'd tried, then picked up 3 or 4 codling straight away.
Meanwhile, i'd lost a few rigs so put on a homemade lead filled pirk and was straight into a 4lb+ cod, then her indoors wrang, come on in and light the BBq as everyone will soon be arriving. Her wish is my command so that was it, a total of 4 codling and a pouting, but still a smashing day to be out.
