8 of us had a mini competition yesterday (Sun) £5.00 a man
    heaviest fish takes all,
The conditions were spot on, We all left the Boat Station (Whitley Bay) at
9am and came back in at 1pm, the fishing was very patchy , all of us fishing
the lighthouse and yellow can, Norman won it with a cod of 5.1/2 lbs,
most of us only caught 3 or 4 fish, all caught on Prawn, or daylights..
I got a nice Pollock about 3.1/2 lbs and a couple of 3lb cod,
no mackerel were landed, I lost 2 on the way in,, thought they would be a pest
at this time of the year, a few wrasse came in and were returned,
I have heard they are good to eat, any one tried cooking them ?
All in all a very pleasant 4 hours fishing, cheers Tich,,,

I enjoy comp fishing, pity the inshore fishing is true to form and goes quiet this time of year.
Still good to get out though, even it is for just a few fish. Cheers for posting.
    P.B. Cod 30lb-11ozs Balcary.

I tried Wrasse for the first time the other week. I usually return mine, but someone weighed one in at the Bedlington comp and didn't want it. Best to scale them first before filleting. Cut them into goujons, breadcrumbed and then shallow fried, very nice, I thought they tasted similar to Wolffish.
