  • Catch report "Swordfish"

Good day on Tues with near perfect sea state ( at last ) , managed loads of mackerel , pollack , coalie , but only about 6 cod .Had a good play on my downscan sonar ( see pic ) this was the Adastra.
Today was total reverse of fortunes , inshore and five wrecks for one cod , what difference a day makes !

Nice one Dave, thanks again for a great day

We also had Dab, whiting & herring, would of been in with a good shout in a species comp.

That's some kit you've got, fantastic image.
        Cheers, Keith.

That's not a bad day Dave and is better than I managed. I heard you and Ritchie on the VHF shortly after I left the piers but couldn't find the fish.

The downscan image looks very good, how and where did you mount the transducer?

We headed South Dave 'On a Roll' - glorious weather - good sea conditions - drift was mental for most of the session - a few fish about now on the wrecks with the maki starting to show and some canny coaly.

The drift was difficult Eddie and quite fast , not ideal but fishable .I got you on radio at first then lost you .

Kev , the downscan transducer is fitted on the transom and another thru hull brass type near mid ships , these were fitted when I bought her ( Lowrance hds 10 )

We did about 9 wrecks - the type of drift on each one determined how long we stopped on them - when we took fish we stayed until it dropped off - couple of drifts over the odd non producers then of hunting again until we found them. Think Ritchie said we had covered nigh on nearly 50 miles in total over the day. Couple of the marks had fish on them showing on the fish finder but they just didn't want to play. A seal kept popping up on a couple of the marks - the bugger must have been following us. There seemed to be a lot of cross radio chatter regards the salmon netters.
