After working at new address Knocking walls down and converting the out house with sink, water etc; for all fishing related things for the last consecutive 9 days, I had some bait, IE; lug and rag starting to look sorry for itself in the fridge, so decided to down tools and have a session by the yellow can off Whitley at anchor as the tides are strong at the moment. It was a late start at 10-30am, but timed just as the wind dropped to about 5mph. Arrived at the can and chucked the anchor out, and the boat swung immediately round in the tide. The first rod in was baited with rag, and as soon as it hit bottom, a thumping bite which turned out to be the first of many wrasse caught throughout the session.
Next rod went in and again just a few seconds and was into a canny tussle in the strong tide, thought this is a descent fish, but it turned out to be a double header of 3lbers
I also had some fresh peeler, Fresh being the operative word, which i could hardly stand the smell of, talk about cod will eat anything, the truth is, they will. The rod banged over within a couple of minutes, and another cod about 3lb was the result.
After a short while, I had nine keepers with wrasse, pouting, coalies aplenty going back in.
All good things come to an end, as soon as the tide eased, the bites did too.
Ended up with 11 keepers,
so, at 2pm called it a day, a very enjoyable day, much better than beavering away in the now........utility room. The wife insists, that's what it's called now
Sunday looks like light winds up to now, so mabe get another sesh then when the tides arn't so strong.
P.S. As I pulled up at my drive, I noticed a cop car pulling up along side of me, and he motioned me to drop my window down. His words were, Do you know that your fishing line is way back down the street, so i got out the car, and sure enough, the line from my spinning reel was down to the corner about 50 yds, so I took the rod from the upright socket and started walking and reeling in the line down to the corner, then around the corner and another 120 yds to the next corner, passing a bloke walking his dog,me still wearing my waders and still reeling, god knows what he thought. Got to the next corner, and there 30yds into the top of a tree was my mackerel lure and feathers. Tried pulling, only to loose them in the branches. Never mind, once the leaves drop off, they should glisten in the sun or the street lights in the winter.
