Arranged with Davy (blanked again) , to meet at 9am this morning for a run out , where I got my tide heights from I don't know , but what I thought was going to be nearly 6ft of water over the cill turned out to be nearly 2ft
Sat in the marina for over an hour in the rain and cold waiting for enough water to get out and when we did the swells at sea were rather large We tried a close in wreck that is very hit and miss and today it was a definite miss , moved on to a wreck I had fish from on Monday and Davy took the first fish of the day on a shad followed by another shortly after I had been smashed up by a good fish , I eventually got a fish , but boy it was hard work in that swell. We moved wrecks a couple of times to no avail and eventually gave it up as a bad job and headed for the calm of the hard ground where Davy picked up another codling and I bumped a couple more off. The day ended 3 to Davy , 1 to me , only right for the guest to catch more fish ............... but only on the first trip
We met Dave Craig out there on Wicked Jack and they had faired similarly , I'm sure the fish are still about , they are just fewer and harder to catch in less than perfect conditions ....................roll on some calm seas

Aye mate calmer seas I'm sure would bring them on again, we did reletively ok today but it was hard going with only one of the wrecks we visited giving us proper fish.
We ended with about a dozen codling kept between the two of us but that was after a long and hard session, it looks nice in a report but it must be remembered we were out fishing for about 7 hours ......... a lot of it in the rain ... (mad I'm sure)

The cill ........ distant memories (I'm pleased) I do recall that in my time up there the tides and the decent weather weekends never fell together, it always seemed to be good weather waiting for the cill to clear or ... deep cill water and bad seas .....

Well done Ray, and Blanked Again ( Who didn't ) , like you say the fish are getting harder to come by, and that swell was horrid today. It's nice to see the guest catching fish, trouble is my guest ( Big Tel ) is still outfishing me after 3 years

Yeah Ray pretty desperate, we headed in not long after seeing you, the sea lifted and the rain started so it was time to go. We ended up with 3 cod, one pollock and a few mackerel. Hard going today....the shore gear will be getting dusted down for the winter matches now...

What's your thoughts then Ray? Is it all nearly over or are there a few more to catch before the end of the season? I hope the latter!
That cill is a right pain in the arse, and the fact that there is no petrol pump and the harbour entrance being scary at times with the slightest bit of sea on! Then on the other side of the coin the scenery, lack of other boats and water clarity make it a tough choice between RQ's and Amble!

            Nice report Ray,
The sea may of been bumpy and the fishing slow but it was still great to get out due to the good company.
Hopefully you will be looking to out fish me next time to put me back in my place as that will mean i'm out fishing again
            Thanks again
            Davy
            Tight lines

Graham , Monday gone I had a decent day , like Normans, long hours but productive , but I found 2 wrecks with fish on and the conditions allowed me to fish them properly , yesterday the combination of wind , rain , swell etc.made it really hard going , I'm in it for the long haul though , if I can get out I'm going , if the conditions are perfect I'll go look for the fish , if not I'll stick to where I know I can pick the odd one off. I think you need to be out quite regularly and scout around a bit so that when one "hot spot" is dying off you have a fair idea of where the next one might be. We visited one of the wrecks that produced on Monday and the fish were still there , I reckon the other wreck will still have fish as well , but it was too distant to fish yesterday. I'm not giving up on the season yet

I know what you mean Ray, hang on for the end! There is one wreck me and Micky have been hammering them on this year in particular. It doesn't matter how big the tide is just as long as it's not slack and the fish are there! They go off the feed than as soon as it starts running hooped rods again!

Just found out I am not flying until Thursday! Fan bloody tastic! The Mrs was due the new baby yesterday so I hope she can hang on! I am definetly in the dog house and pleased Micky has already booked the boat show tickets and flights otherwise my pass out would have been cancelled by senior management!

A day of endurance and keeping at it assured you didn't blank, so, well done on what seems to have been a hard day
