Saturdays catch reports suggested that the fish were a tad scarce so we set out this morning prepared for a quiet day. We left the fuel pontoon at about 7am and headed North to try a few of our favourite wrecks and from the first drift we were into some decent Cod.
By late morning we had reached our quota of fish but the wind was also freshening from the West so we headed inshore to drift the rough ground but we had to deploy the drogue in order to keep in touch with the bottom.
There was plenty of decent fish about and mostly Cod although we did land a few Ling. I fished mostly pirks which proved very effective in the morning session, John and Trevor fished mostly bait and picked away steady but Davy stuck to the shads & tiger tails and whilst they were not as potent as they usually are, he was still rewarded with some decent fish.
We kept approx 20 fish and returned approx 30 so I reckon Saturday was just a blip in whats been a great season.
