Not many trips out so far this year with work or weather getting in the way but managed a 4 hour session yesterday. Got up there to find a nice calm sea but by the time the tide came in the sea was starting to get very lumpy.......go for it and give it a go was my call, so off we went.

Headed South towards Dunstanburgh and straight under a huge cloud which seemed to just open up and tip water on us....Great start!!!

After a couple of hours of moving around we had a measly few macky and couple of cracking coalies but no sign of any codling.

Headed North towards Seahouses and a few mile off shore but still no codling, my dad was getting worried about the sea conditions but i sugested we try one of my favorite spots which is close in before we headed back to the harbour.

So glad we did! With me now at the controls we were bound to find the fish and wow how right was I!!

1st drop and Bang double headers of 3-5lb codling for both of us
We just drifted for 15 mins hitting codling as soon as we hit the bottom if not sooner.....they realy felt like macky the way they were fighting.

Let my dad set us up for the next drift telling him to just put us where i did.......oops!! he must of missed it as we never had a touch.

I took over again for a last drift as time for getting back in was running out fast........."Right on the money son" was the shout from my dad as i was coming out the cabin his rod was bent right over and he was struggling to reel his fish in......nice 6-7LB+ cod landed, great fun on light gear. I was straight into one just a bit smaller and they kept coming in 2 at a time..

Gutted when we had to go back in but glad we did as we got in with minutes to spare before tide was out.

Got no pics as rain got into 1 camera and my iphone was not getting soaked.
Kept enough fish for supper and let the rest go back for Nicky on Sunday

Great end to the session finding the codling. We must have been over a shoal of them as it was just like mackeral fishing the way we were pulling them in.

I seem to have the magic touch for finding the fish when i'm at the controls.....long may ity continue.

Need my camera man JV back on boat as i never remember to take photos lol
