After a couple of really early starts lately I decided to have a lie in and set off at a "normal" time , I was out and about by 7am , that's plenty early enough (sometimes )
As usual the best laid plans went out the window due to the weather but I ended up having one of the most enjoyable days afloat.
I drifted over a couple of close wrecks with nothing to show for my efforst before heading out to some at 6 miles which usually hold a few fish , another boat was arriving at the same time from the opposite direction , I got there first so I claimed the wreck as mine and pushed the other boat aside

It looked like they were doing some knitting or something with their lines , ayway I watched them fish for a while , the big one was crap and caught nowt but the wreck each drift whilst his mate reeled cod after cod in
They were cramping my style (catching more than me ) so I made my appologies and set off to a wreck where I could fish alone and convince myself that if I wasn't catching anything it was because the fish weren't there , hard to do with another boat next to you reeling them in

I picked up a bird for some company on the way

She was only after one thing though ,

The sea got really bumpy about lunch time and I nearly came back in , instead I fished a closer in wreck for an hour which gave it time to settle down , evntually becoming so flat I set off in search of new marks to the north , good decision , It was 7.30pm before I arrived back at the marina , a contented and chilled , if very tired , angler

Quality report Ray, you are dead on with the biggun being crap! Micky hammered me on that wreck! I think he had about 12 fish off it to my two mackeral (On a shad) ,a tiddler ling and small codling as well as losing about ten sets of gear!
Thats a shift and a half at sea mind! Pleased the fishing came back on for you and the weather moderated, it was pretty miserable when we headed in, drenched........again! We weren't envious of Eleda and your spacious dry wheelhouse! Honest!!!!
See you out there next time! Maybe tomorrow!!!! Forecast permiting!

    Graham.

Well Done Ray ... and Mickey (hard luck Graham )

Something I remember when I used to be at amble, if theres a boat already on your chosen mark then you just move on to another one ... NOT so here at the Tyne we often fish 2 or 3 or more boats on a wreck simply get in line in the drift then after your passed go to the back of the queue, not that it happens lots but certainly its an accepted thing to fish together ....
