We fished the wrecks a tad South of Tynemouth on Saturday and a good way North on Sunday but the results were similar. Both morning sessions were very productive with well over 40 decent fish each day but the afternoon sessions when the tide turned were very poor by comparison. The wind also freshened in the afternoon of both days and I guess that also made a difference. We visited a number of wrecks on each day but many of the wrecks did not hold fish and the majority of fish came from only two wrecks.
The water was gin clear, you could see the Cod coming up from way way down and you could see them "venting" streams of air bubbles on their way up.
I also noticed something very interesting and wonder if anyone else picked up on this. We all seemed to snag up on rope or net at each wreck but there was no sign of lobster pot dhans or flags on any of the wrecks, even the inshore wrecks which is very unusual. I just wonder if someone has been cutting the pot ropes which would certainly pxxx off the commercial fishermen and also explain the snags.
