Just to put things in perspective after all the great catch reports of late , I went out this morning expecting the usual great day out fishing I've been having lately , the plan was to hit a few wrecks and maybe the hard ground around Boulmer , first wreck was 4 miles out and another boat was already fishing there , I stopped by but didn't fish and headed out to some further afield , the sea was not friendly , not bad or dangerous , just awkward , fast drift , hard to set up , bumpy swell every few minutes , not a lot of fun.
I decided a BIG wreck would be easier to set the drift up on and headed for one that has produced some good results this year for me , a couple of drifts over that at warp speed and one bumped off fish had me heading for the hard ground. The route to the hard ground took me past the first wreck which still had the same boat fishing there , they'd had about 30 cod so far
I motored over to Boulmer , there were quite a few boats about for a weekday so I expected fish , and got them ........... mackerel , coalies and small codling by the bucketload (jcb bucket) if I dropped a hokkai rig over the side , and small codling on shads dragged over the ground.
It was cold , I had to put a coat on yet I got burned by the sun , I gave up about 2pm and came home dejected and dissapointed , I put it down to biorythms , mine must be on the ebb just now, but hey , next week they will be on the flood and I'll be posting a catch report like Richys

Better luck next time with wind and fish, hope your bio rhythms are working well.

Nowt worse when your chomping at the bit to get out, then things don't go the way you expected, but, that's what keeps us coming back. Like you say, there's always the next trip Ray, hope it lives up to expectations.

All being well I will be off tomorrow Ray so I am not sure which way to head! I have a rough idea where you were as I think the boat that was on your first mark is my neighbour!
I will have my oldest son with me as the schools are on strike so I won't be venturing too far, just a bit of scoping out before the comp on saturday.
I have had a three week absence from fishing with my daughter getting a nasty chest infection and being in the RVI but she's well on the mend now and back to the fishing it is!
