Me & my mate Col left Whitley Bay boathouse about 9.30, weather brill sunny & best of all NO Wind apart from last nights curry, chugged out about 1/2 a mile off the lighthouse, first 4 drops 2 mackerel on daylights and 2 small cod, 1.1/2lbs, chucked out the lobster pot & carried on fishing, drifted towards the yellow can Col pulled 1n a few 3-4 lb cod, then he cot the spinning rod out, & pulled in 5/6 canny mackerel, I lifted the rod up and wound up slow, 3 then 2 another 3 mackerel on daylights got a total of about 16 , swapped over to bait ( prawn shell on )& landed another 6 cod all around the 3 to 4 lb mark, then the wind picked up, headed to were the pot was soaking, nowt (bummer) then headed back to the boathouse, dragged the boat half way up the beach, the wind dropped, the sun came out , it was red hot, it took us ages to get the boat in,just to hot to do anything, eventually got it in, 32 c was showing on my mates car, sitting writing this resembling the cooked lobster we didnt catch, canny day had by all, thers half a dozen of my mates having mackerel for tea,we could have filled the boat with them,

A Few hours off the boat house

An enjoyable read Tich,Yous both made the most of your trip out before the weather changed, with some nice pot size fish and plenty mackerel. I can appreciate the effort needed to get the boat back up to the boat station, especially in that heat. well done the both of you.P.B. Cod 30lb-11ozs Balcary.
