Had to do a work run this morning , not working just getting someone else there so it was an afternoon run out for me today. Sat in the marina with no water over the cill so had a drive down to the sea front , it looked lovely and flat (should've went to specsavers )
Headed out about 2.30 , went to a wreck that gave me some fantastic fishing last year and it was barren of fish , tried another 2 wrecks , same story , I honestly thought a blank was on the cards , the sea was choppy with 1.5mtr waves pitching the boat back and forth , the drift was stupid fast and the fish didn't want to play
I had set out intending to stay out till late on , but it was 6pm and I still hadn't had a bite never mind caught a fish , tried yet another wreck and hey presto a 7.5lb cod , followed by another of 7lb and a third of about 3lb , and a suicidal mackerel that took a 400gram pirk
I'd have loved to have stayed out late , but it was really tiring fighting that sea and easterly wind and constantly losing gear to the wrecks and bits were dropping off my boat with the pounding she was getting so I came in about 8 with the 3 fish and tied her up in a beautifully calm marina with hardly a breath of air to ruffle the flags
I can't wait to see a nice flat sea again
