  • Flamer 2, a great day afloat!

This has to go down as my best boat trip for quite some time. We hit the wrecks around 13 miles out and using only shads took a good number of quality cod to 10lb.

Flamer 2 of Hartlepool, a good boat with a helpful skipper and crew mate.

Shads were the boyos to have today and they easily outfished all other methods, the bigger the shad, the bigger the fish that wanted it.

Paul Longstaff took some nice cod today.

I managed one of 10lb, 8lb and around ten other fish that were keepers. These fish fight all of the way to the surface and on braid it's outstanding sport.

Pal Brian is a shad fishing fanatic and he got in on the action to.... we ended up with around 30 good fish to the shads.

What an excellent day, it's been years since I had such a good boat catch.

Shads are the bees knees, I think I'm hooked.

Many thanks to skipper John and his crew member who worked their socks off, netting fish, untangling tangles and pulling out snags. I can't praise them enough. Tightlines, Dave.

Well done Dave. I was watching you on our last trip (out of the corner of my eye) and noticed you stuck with shads all day. We are out on Wednesday at canny old Craster and i,m following your method. Quality fish rather than quantity.
