Well this afternoons session started at around half three when we left the marina, this afternoon. The wind was a little brisk but dropped away to mirror calm, flat seas by six pm.
We started well with a fair few cod to shads of all colurs and sizes but then the fishing seemed to drop off. We tried another couple of marks and then hit into some mackeral on the way down. This was quicky chopped up on the baiting table and we both switched to pirks and hokkai's. the fishing picked up again and more cod were caught along with a couple of ling. The dolphins put on a show again for us today and during their third show Micky hit into a fish that he couldn't stop! He played it well and ended up with this whopper!
I snapped his rod getting it in the boat after I had gaffed it, the tail of the ling caught the tip and snapped it so it was a good job it was his new PB and the boats so it nulified the pain of snapping a rod! It weighed in at 26lb 6oz at sea and 26lb in the marina.
We fished on and the jammy bugger also got a nice cod just shy of double figuires;
I ended up with the most fish and a doubler ling but was beaten today, a huge well done Lad! Fantastic! I was shaking for him when I went to gaff the monster!
By coincidence I shot a video of the fish being played, I had just been videoing the dolphins, the video made me cry with laughter and would definetly have to be shown after the watershed! If I can fathom out how to post it I will!
A last photo on the way in with cheesy grins all around!
Bumped into Dave on the way in on Wicked Jack as well. Not sure about the competition this weekend with the forecast but we'll see!
