Judging by the catch reports, I think it fair to say that all the local boats have had their best day of the season so far. It was certainly our best day by a country mile and by mid morning we were throwing back prime spring Cod.
My GPS is out of action so the wrecks are unavailable to me but the fish were in abundance on the rough ground so it wasn't too much of a handicap. All baits and/or techniques proved productive although pirks seemed to do better in the afternoon with the flowing trace having the edge during the morning session. We caught a number of double figure fish with a 16lb Ling being the pick of the bunch and now leading the Royal Quays big fish competition. I estimate we must have landed 150 fish with most of them returned and it just doesn't get much better than this,
