Well looking hard at the forecast after Fridays run out I gave a 5:00am sailing to a few lads if they were interested, not too many whinges and all turned up in time, with dead on 5:00am cast off. Early start again to beat the wind.
Set out of Hartlepool into a slight breeze with just a few ripples on the water, throttled up and headed out to the same wreck while the shads and sidewinders were getting made up. sea was slight from the south with the wind just a slight breeze and the sun coming up.
got on the wreck exactly 55 minutes, I want a fish on the deck by 6 oclock and sure enough everyone was pumped up off the previous days fishin and the crack was spot on, sweep money was in and down they went, 250 foot of nice clear water.
The first fish was on the deck at 1 minute past 6.
and followed by the other 3 lads slappin fish on the deck.
went around again and bang, everyone hitting some nice cod, and that was the rest of the day never missed a drift everyone baggin up.
pearl shads and sidewinders, rhubarb and custard sidewinders and blue shads with blood head shads later did the buisness.
biggest was 14Lb -12oz, couple hitting 12lb & 11lb and 3 10's with the others 4-8lb mark.
total fish was 187 cod kept, 4 rods and me occaisionally, 6 mackerel, and a 2-1/2lb coaly.
great day, the forecast came good with the sea turning at 12:30 and we headed in with a rough ride back.
big red faces with wind burn and loads of filleting to do, so until the next time, maybe Tuesday.
