Well looking at the forecast, i thought if i don't get out then i'll miss my shot before i get back to graft, ....so 6 bells left the dock at hartlepool and headed off into a brisk wind from the south.
The sea was up, a bit choppy with short swells, off towards the horizon, with the wind strengthening towards dinner time.
We tried a wreck 6 mile off, more like a bit of scrap so we headed off another 8 mile into a wreck, which was spot on from the start.
The wind with the big tide was always going to rush us on, but not too bad for working the shads. drifting at 1.5 knots we were flying over the wreck, not bad as we were hitting fish onto it and after it.
Denny had some quality fish with the ripper, no bait, getting 13 fish to 17lb, with a couple just touching 9lb.
2 lads out for a ride did very well with 19 fish and 15 fish to 8-10lb mark on shads. No bait today just shads and Denny on the ripper.
The sea was hoying us about a bit with those short nasty swells and the wind, as forecast, was lifting the sea a bit too much so we hoyed it in for the day and headed in at 1'oclock. total was 55 fish on the boat, I got the other 8, smallest on the boat !!
A good day, spot on crack and tee'd up for another shot tomorrow morning, Saturday, with a 5 oclock sailing to try and beat the wind before dinner, but we'll see.
