Hi Graham , she is being lifted a week on thursday for a 20 hour service on the engine , once that's done and she's back in the water it will be all systems go
She is growing on me , I wasn't sure at first if I'd done the right thing buying her , I did a cracking deal on a new arvor 215 with the mercruiser engine and to be honest at the time that would have been my preferred boat , a trip to the boat show with the wife changed all that and the deal was changed to the merry fisher 645. (same dealer)
I nearly bought a merry fisher marlin 6 , but again the wife put me off that one as well . She loved the style and layout of the 645 and said it would be far more suitable for family outings and I could still fish from it , I agreed and the rest is history.
Like I say , she is growing on me , I'm not one for going out with a boat full of anglers , I like to fish alone a lot and occasionally with a mate or guest , she's ideal for two anglers , and very , very comfortable to relax in between bouts of cod hauling She handles a sea well and has masses of power available with the 115 outboard which is a big plus over the arvor , particularly now that diesel is no longer a cheap fuel.
So far I've not noticed a great deal of difference in running costs between this boat and the last one other than the petrol costs a lot more now than it did then for the same amount. Maybe when I'm travelling further afield it might show more?
I'm still working out where to put stuff and keep things etc , I made a table for all the fishing tackle , but I've taken it out tonight and rearranged things again , I'll get it the way I want it over time , mean time I'm just looking forward to getting out more as the weather hopefully improves.
I'm still getting used to having the plotter out of sight when I'm fishing , I could virtually watch the fish take my lures on the plotter on the explorer , I'm guessing how far I've drifted now which is not ideal , I'm thinking of getting an ipad with a navionics chart on to watch from the cockpit , or maybe another plotter set up there , or maybe I'll just get used to it , we'll see
    Anyway ........... I'm loving it !

Thanks for the reply Ray, I will catch up at the marina soon, flight details are in and I am home on Friday morning! Fishing as soon after as senior management(the Missus) allows!

      She seems to be the perfect boat for yourself! I know you will have asked yourself all the questions that are buzzing around my head at the minute;

Outboard or conventional shaft?I want to keep away from sterndrive, too many moving parts submerged in salt water prone to seizing for my liking!
      Diesel or Petrol?
How restricitive is Amble Cill with a deeper draught and should we move to Royal Quays? ( I love Amble but Micky is erring towards RQ!)
Any swell from the North around to just South of East and you struggle to get out of Amble= again Amble or RQ?

Plus a time scale to throw in the mix as well as my missus is pregnant with number four so I have to buy a bigger boat soon-ish that will last a few years as I can see a lot of expense ahead with the offspring!

The clear favourite at the minute is the Arvor 215as which would probobly mean a move too if Amble was too restrictive. Do you know who's the Arvor 215as in there is as he may be a wealth of info regarding the cill restrictions with this draught?
As well by the time you strap your electrics on the Marlin 6 they are the same price as the 215as's?

      It's all a bit fuzzy!

See you and Dave down South this weekend if I am allowed!

      Cheers,

      Graham.
