had my first trip of the season with Kev on worlass on Thursday in perfect conditions.
it was a short trip due to work commitments but we took out a good friend on his virgin
wrecking trip and he loved every minute of it.

things started off with a couple of nice cod on the first wreck and that turned out to be
the pattern for the day with every wreck producing a couple of keepers. in the end we
took three home each up to 5lb but the true story of the day was the quality of the
    fights on light gear.

I must admit i was suprised to see all cod and no ling as we were using
mackie for bait and have seen reports of several ling already this season.
i thought one or two may have shown up but hey, for a first trip it was an
    absolute pleasure.

Great first trip out for you. Your right about the better fight on light gear, been using it for years and every fish feels that much better. I allways set the clutch so that if the fish takes a dive, it takes line and sounds great. Good post and pics, well done.

Cheers for the picture Steve. It was a short and incisive session with no time wasted repeating the quieter drifts. Odd how we had spells without fish then the two or three of us hooked up at the same time, and not just tom the wreck although that happened.

Craig the wreck virgin did especially well with one way traffic into the boat instead of chucking groundbait out the boat
