Its been a while .... weather has not been kind, along with holidays in between (and a Ladies Day Races to go to) and of course not forgetting Tonys other little deviation on the theme of life ... so, looking back the last time at sea was with our good friends Lynn and Mark
(how yous doing folks , all well I hope)

The watching started Monday and with the week looking settled into a westerly that just hung and hung around each day closer got more and more sure of a "Day out" ....... So good was the sea going to look I asked a good friend (Kev) aboard whos only previous trip ended in a shout for Huey and who deserved to see what it was really like when the sea flattens off and the sun shines.
Also on board was "Mr. dependable" Keith who didnt have a deck to sit on today until we rescued him, and of course Tony.

So off we went at the fairly comfortable time of 5.00am to be greeted with a clear full orange sunrise sky, not a cloud to be seen and the wind constantly (low) from the west .............. purrrrrfect.

I'd not been sure of how the fish would be after a few weeks of rain and easterly blows and was a bit concerned that the mackerel would not have come back yet ..... whoa how wrong was I ?

Stopped off at the usual 3 mile (ish) wreck to try for mackerel and bang bang bang they were everywhere and in numbers and big .... Tony managed one drop to get through and returned the first Cod of the day at about 6.00am it then became a test to see who could get to the bottom to find the cod, but when you got there it was cod galore, everyone caught and in numbers. We used several methods, shads, bait, pirks etc and all caught fish probably equally in amounts but the best feeling for catch was undoubtedly (well my view) the shads, feeling the fish have a go then have another go then taking the shad an turning as the hook takes in the side scissors of the mouth , great Sport.

We fished more or less a circle of 4 or 5 wrecks and it was hard to say if any were more fruitful than others they just simply all held fish.

I think today it was just "the day" to be out there.

Heaven seemed to come to us when at the height of catching we decided to stop and Topped the day off with a stella in the sunshine .... treeeemendous.

High point of the day was Tony whispering about not going to second guess the weight of his fish as he wound it from the depths, then to see it hit surface at 16lbs ..... great stuff

All in all a brilliant day out good sea, good weather, lots of sunshine, loads of fish and , more than anything, great company

Thanks Tony, Keith and Kev, great day .......

A few pics to help me remember .......

This one first, its usually last, lots of fish for all our families and friends ......

and a few just to show we all caught ........

Tony with first of the day .........

Kev with a "Wreck Caught Flatty)

Keith with the "guess which ones the bait" .... lol the biggest one

And me just to prove I was there .....

Of course I have to have one of Tonys 16lbder

and the one I almost forgot ......... sunrise .... Brilliant ....

Great Day , many thanks to all aboard and many thanks to all who read

Great report Norman, that’s a full house for fish and fishers aboard SK today. I hope my namesake managed to hold on to his breakfast this time.

Well done Tony on a cracking fish.
