A bleak miserable start to a day, the weather improved but the fishing didn't!
I was going to head up to the marina on my motorbike as the Gaffa needed the car but after sticking my head out of the front door and being met with a downpour a quick phonecall to Micky to divert and pick me up en route.
We got to the marina and it was tipping down still, headed off to the first wreck and bagged up with the mackeral for bait for the day.
That was the only plus point, we tried a grand total of seven wrecks for the end product of three ling, a whiting and a scotchie! Just to check the fishing really was that bad and we hadn't missed anything we tried the same wrecks on the way back and had nowt! The only prolific thing again being mackeral.
It started getting a bit snotty around dinner time and the main exitment was getting back in the marina.
The spring tide meant I was doing about 7 knots at tick over going over the sill! I had to go straight in, turn her short around then back into it and slip up towards our berth, good fun though!
All in all a bit gutting, I know the water had been stirred up through the week and it was a big tide but it just felt like the fish have gone! The water was clear well off with jellyfish still everywhere.
I think I will give it one more go this week after the tides have moderated and the water has fully cleared and if there is still not much, that's it for 2010! I can't complain too much though as it has been the best season ever from any of my own boats!
