Lets start by saying well , we did fill a box ...........
Up and at it this morning for 5.30am meet-up with Tony, really great relief to find the wind had held off and was little more than a gentle breeze which had not upset the sea at all this morning. ... on that subject I got to have a good plug here yet again for XC Weather, it was spot on hour by hour .....
Out the piers as the sun was just poking itself through the horizon clouds ... a little late by our standards, maybe we should go back to the 5.00am starts (I'm sure Lisa will understand Tone - honest )
Didnt mess about but shot straight out to 4 mile wrecks to miss the dirty water Rich had spoke of .....
Met up with Keith and bert on Shady who as ever were already digging into fish in the now ... "Clean" Water ......
Well this was a wreck previous classified as "Manic" but which had eased off last weekend .... and here we were again straight into fish .... wow "maybe they're back ? "...
meanwhile the sky gave us a spectacular view of the heavens , or at least the sun whose brightness was curtailed by the level of cloud in the atmosphere and showed us an eerie soft dark red disk .... difficult to photograph but wonderful to view..........
It seems as the sun breaks the horizon the fish jump onto hooks but, and so soon after, as the sun begins to climb in the sky the bites cease, as was on this occasion .....
after 45 mins of good fishing it was all over ........ no fish!, no more!, .....
decided at this point to do the wreck circle and find if and where they were ......
it seems this was to be our fishing for the day and only one more fish (a ling of 8lb) was to fall to us ....
tried inshore , offshore even tried "the banker" St Marys but all to no avail.
So with the wind increasing (as per XC Weather forecast) we decided to head back to the tyne and have a last fish just outside the piers, oh and to pick up bobly dons mackerel for his BBQ.
What with the increasing SE wind the journey from St Marys to the Tyne was like an Uphill sail ...... but all expected.
All in all we did end with a full box of fish but we could have packed in after the first hour and still had the same box of fish ..... but then again, its not about catching , its about fishing ...
enjoy the BBQ Bob .....
just a few pics of the day .....
sun popping over the horizon
eerie sight ........ (with Shady in the distance)
Lots of Tommies at St Marys
And a few better ones here and there ...
And Bobly BBQ Feast .... ( I hope yer Knees hold out Bob... )
As ever .... some Nice Fillets .....
Thanks for Viewing ......
