  • Sprats as bait

Just obtained 1kg of Sp[rats from Morrisons for £2.99, split them up and put some in the freezer. I suspect they may not stay on the hook well but I would have thought they were an excellent bait, anyone have any constructive advice on using Sprats as bait.

Cannot really comment on the sprats but to be honest I just go out with no bait and just jig for some mackerel then just get them gutted on the way to a wreck and use them if needed.

        Mackerel

Perhaps Mackerel work well on the wrecks but we've had little success with them. The Cod have preferred the Morrison prawn. Perhaps if the prawns weren't there they'd go for the Mackerel.

Have used them as Pike bait before but never in the sea although I would give them a go ,maybe before the mackerel are showing.
You can take the lad out of Walker but .......

I would say they are far to weak to use as bait-they will break up in no time.
