Fished out of the Tyne today with a group of lads from work. The worst catch from a boat I have seen in a long time. I think the big tide, 25mph westerlys and the monsoon that lasted all afternoon did not help. Thirteen people fishing and I would think no more than twenty fish on board. The best was a pollock of around 8.5 lb, a couple of ling and the rest codling around 2.5 lb mark. The skipper reaaly tried and was all over trying to find fish. No complaints at all with the boat or crew, just think we picked the wrong day.
Still better than working or sitting in the house all day.

Not much you can do with a fast drift and poor conditions but thats why its called fishing and not catching...the main thing is you know everyone tried to find fish and it just was not that day.

    Next trip i am sure

When i went out at Sea houses a few weeks ago i got a cod straight away on my first drop using black hockeyes-then we had to come in because it was lightening. A week later out at Craster on Bon Ami i used black hockeyes for hours and did not get a fish from 8:30 until 11 am and i only caught because i put cheap daylights on.

Personal best, 12.5lb Tope Scotland. 22/05/2012.
