The weather got it spot on today, almost to the hour so a late start was on the cards as the wind would drop off around 2-3pm.
We set off just after 8 and headed out the piers to take a few mackerel, as always at the moment we filled the buckewt with what we needed and headed off to a wreck for the first drop with the wrecking gear.
We started picking up the odd cod but the drift was too quick to put a bait down so the pirks and twin tails would get a hammer today. We decided to pop over and see Shady and Slinky Kate on the way further out but informed a few fish about so worth a few drops, straight away after 1 jig into a pan size cod followed by a 2nd and a 3rd so we plugged away on there taken a few then decided to head further off in search of something abit bigger.
That never went to plan as we tried 9 wrecks and did take fish off them but nothing over 6lb and once again all cod. Things got a bit nasty on the 10mile mark and waves started comming over the side of the boat so we headed back....but as you can see from the pic it was like this thw full way in.
Since the weather was due to improve we stayed abit longer on a 6 miler and it was like some other day, wind gone and sea flat in about 10mins witht he drift down from a shocking 1.6 to a nice 0.5k. We tried the ling baits down again but could not get past the cod
So with a full fish box we headed in but boy it was not an easy day at sea but still great fun
So we had.....
Cod
whiting
pouting
coalie
mackerel
