    It happened again !

Out this morning meeting up at 5.00am in marina car park with Tony and guest angler for the day ... NESA's very own Jonny_s ..... welcome aboard mate

After a few days of finger crossing on the weather and trying best to ignore the TV weather reports as they always forcast doom and gloom so as not to be caught out (AGAIN) we made the decision to meet up and see how it was on the day since our standard XC Weather and Metcheck both forcast a west wind in the region of 12 mph ......
If it were too breezy on the day then we'd simply put it back to another date, however .... lo and behold it was just as XC predicted.

Off we went to a small wreck (or lump) just outside the piers with the order of the day being "get Jonny to catch some good fish"
3 mins after stopping the boat (and before I could get a line down) Jonny was into the first fish of the day (timed at 5.43am), turned out to be a small tommy codling that was released to grow some more ... well done Jonny.
For the next 30mins we all seemed to be catching the same sized fish so although we did not have any in the box we all felt satisfied in the first half hour that this was going to be a "catching" day .....

After hovering around the mouth of the river and taking stock of the conditions we decided it was time to do the circle of wrecks, I say circle as this is our standard practice to visit one by one stopping longer if they fish and less if they dont ........

back to the first line of "It happened again !" .............. we came across one particular wreck and that was it, not a case of stay longer as it seemed to be fishing but stay all day as it was fishing its **** off ........
We all caught well, there were times when all three of us were into fish at the same time and there were times when some of us were into more than one fish at the same time ..... well done Jonny ....

The "It happened again !" comment is due to the fact that over the past 4 or 5 weeks we've seen fishing like never before, simply "manic" on a particular wreck (not the same one each week ! ), the likes of I thought may happen once or twice in a career but not 4 or 5 times in as many weeks ...... simply manic .... what a day (again)
It could be said shads done all the work (tony was shad mad today), but I dug in equally well with muppets (and shads ), and our guest Jonny caught probably the biggest 7lb or so (and 2 at atime) with hokkais (heavily baited to avoid mackerel ) so ....... wow ! if you get in the right place at the right time and you have a decent bait or trace (no matter what it is) bang !

Great to take Jonny another NESA friend out and even better to pick a day like today when he beat all his previous records, ie big fish , lots of fish, a gurnard, a pollack etc etc. excellent day out with brill crew Tony and Jonny.... thanks lads ....

so much more to mention but dont want to make the post too long .......

a few pictures of the day ......

first fish to Jonny at 5.43 am

and likewise a tommy for myself ....

almost forgot ... the sunrise ....

Then a gurnard for Jonny (and another tommy for me)

whilst tony was shadding ....... SHADDING

And a small pollack for Jonny ...

A Bigger cod for myself ....

    and for Jonny

Then two anglers into fish at the same time

Then one angler (congrats Jonny) into 2 fish at the same time (11lb of fish)

and a smiling shadded Tony .....

and Keith with a beauty doubler of 11lb fishlng from Shady

and the bounty of the day .....

Thanks again to my hard working crew ..........

    cheers

    Huge Thank You

Many thanks to Norman for the invite to fish on 'Slinky Kate' and providing a perfect days fishing. It was great to finally meet up with Norman and Tony. I was made to feel very welcome and although I have still to catch a doubler, I have never before caught so many quality fish on one trip.

Great company, great fishing, great day

    Thank you

Great report Norm (they always are) and a big THANK YOU for the tip off.

That's a wreck we rarely fish, the wreck we tipped you off about earlier was fishing well, honest . We had 6 fish in a row, 4 of them about 8lb.

I had a nightmare with the shads, I caught a fair few fish with them but the tails kept getting bitten off, what was frustrating was it was only happening to me.

Pleased Jonny had a good trip, I was gonna say it's not like that every week but it has been lately . Can you imagine what it would have been like if we weren't drifting at nearly 2 knts.

          Great stuff lads, well done!!!
          Cheers, Keith.

another top drawer day - Like Keith says we normally say "It's not always like this"

Karma will swing round again I'm sure and we'll all have to go hunting about for them

Great to meet Jonny and glad to see him digging into the fish too - enjoy your fish suppers

Keith what exactly happened when you had my line?? I had a fish on too (hence my rather exasperated cry) I better not find it found it's way onto Shady ...still there were other fish I suppose
            Ooh a new vid!

Yet another cracking day out let's hope they keep coming right to the end of the season. Great report as usual Norman , the sea looks a bit lumpy in the pic with Keith , but I guess when the fish are there it smooths the lumps out a bit

I had a cod caught in the side on my shad (honest) and your braid was wrapped around the fish. I thought I had a good fish as well lol.
                  Cheers, Keith.

I never made it out today Norman, had a day at beamish museum with the wife and little lad (should have earned some fishing tokens anyway), looking forward to my next trip out on Missy.

                          Keep up the good work.

Nice one lads some canny shoals of cod going up and down our coast this year, just think 2lb a year they grown until next year if they can make it past the nets.

You did the right thing staying on there, we moved off to look for something abit bigger but never worked out that way.

Aye rich, was a good spot that one ...

Although its always good to catch big, the HONEST truth is that a box full of 5,6 and 7 lbd fish is by far more pleasing ... and all the fish yesterday other than the initial tommys were in that bracket.

We have noticed of late also that the condition of the cod is excellent all light coloured and well marked ...... excellent fish
