  • Bouncy Blue Eye 2

Well as predicted by some, tonight was indeed a bit choppy, but there was no way Lynn and I were going to turn down the chance to get out!

We arrived at the marina past 4pm and 15 minutes later Blue Eye appeared through the gates, a lovely site. Mistress and Predator were also going out, so there were plenty of anglers on the Quayside.

Tonight we were very ably Skippered by Stephen of Macer G fame and his number 2 whose name I have forgotten (it's an age thing!) It wasn't long before we were sailing out through the piers and there was a pretty decent swell running. We went a mile or two and tried some drifts, but it was too fast and bumpy, so Steve headed in towards the piers, I am guessing 3/4 mile off and the drift was much better there.

A full boat had many species tonight - Coalies, Codling, Pouting, Mackerel and a Herring! Stephen and his mate looked after Lynn and I very well, helping us out with some bait, as the Mackerel were scarce and giving us valuable advice. We had a few Coalies and tiny Cod, then I got one a bit better, nothing special , but it was my first this year, so in the bucket it went.

I was feeling quite chuffed with myself and even more so when I hooked a better one. As usual for me, it came off on the way up and before I had returned my bait to the bottom Lynn hooked a better fish (probably mine!). She of course landed hers.

Of course that was the last decent Cod either of us caught! A good evening out though with a fair few Cod spread around the anglers. A big thanks to Stephen and his No.2 for looking after us and finding everyone fish in trying conditions. Not a bad evening out.

Here is Lynn (or Edie McCredie as Spongebob has nicknamed her) looking suitably smug!

Nothing changes for me except for the date!!!
