All week it was a should we should we not...once again i may add but we went for it and the river that greated us looked just the way we dreamed it the night before.

So myself Graham and guest Tony set off and stright out to the first few marks

It was hard going all day with very few fish being taken onboard and the number of fresh mackerel for bait was also a concern, we moved around about 7-8 wrecks picking up the odd one but none really switched on...so after we landed a dozan cod and 2 ling i was happy to hook into a nice 9lb 3oz cod on a big bait

So we kept plugging away taken odd codling, mackerel and whiting then my rod went over and straight away i knew i had either a bit of the wreck or a rope, well a battle of about 6mins later and up came a huge net that was crawling with sea life so once the pirk was unhooked down it went again for there home to live.

So after a few hours of weather beaten we headed home with a modest bag of cod/ling etc but the last drop produced two of the biggest coalie i have caught for a while and they wnet back alive to get even bigger.

    Stingray

    24 cod
    2 ling
    16 whiting
    1 scottie
    2 coalie
    15ish mackerel

    My catch 11 cod, 1 pouting, 2 coalie, 11 mackerel, 4 whiting.

Wasnt expecting many reports today what with this wind. Might give the pier a go in the morning.

      Nice one lads!

I bet that net gave a canny scrap.

XC Weather was spot on again, I don't bother looking at any other weather sites now.
      Cheers, Keith.

Nice day out Rich , just shows what a good season it is when 24 cod is hard going , also goes to show though , that even though there are some big catches being made , they aren't just a case of going out and catching them , they still have to be found , I wonder how many boats that weren't on that wreck shady and slinky were on bagged up like they did?

Nice one lads. There's a steady stream of better fish coming in now but you have to work for them.

Well we went back to the mark wreck and drift after it, 3 boats on from north shields and one of them the Boys, took a few cod and a coupel of double shots of 3-4lbers but not in massive numbers today.
