We thought we would have a lie in this morning and launched from South Shields at 6:30am. The weather was strange and we should have realised it was going to be one of those days as the waves were challenging but we thought we would give it a go. We tried a some wrecks a few miles out and got the odd codling and mackeral so then caught the biggest Weaver fish I've seen. We headed further out and at about 6 miles out and Jason managed to catch a nice ling.

After that we just caught the odd small cod but then manged to land this ugly thing.

So we decided to cut the line as we did not know what is was and the spikes looked like it would hurt. After that the weather decided to dump all seasons on us including hot winds so we decided to head back in and call it a day.

My mate caught a granny fish last time he was out with me , I don't like handling them either , held it over the side of the boat by the line and twisted the hook out of it's mouth with a pair of long nose pliers and it dropped back in the sea without the need to touch it

Nice one lads. Strange buzzing sensation when you pick the sea scorpion up.
