  • Grace 3rd July

    After taking into consideration the tide and the various wind/weather forecasts we left the marina at 7.30 to hit slack water on a couple of lightly fished wrecks several mile off Cambois.
    The plan worked well and we hit quality fish on each drift with Cod to 9lb and Ling to 14lb but the wind freshened so we came inshore to drift the ground with our drogue deployed.
    We had approx 20 Cod and a few Ling in the fishbox when we reached the ground so we decided to throw everything back for the remainder of the day and very soon we were throwing back prime Cod that on another day we would die for.
    The conditions dictated the we fish a flowing trace and we landed at least 100 quality fish before battling back to RQ's;

    Well done - sounds like you had a good day. I noticed today when the tide/drift strengthened my 12 ounce lead would not hold bottom.Think i need a couple of pound leads for the strong drift-and i was using 50lb braid.?.
    Personal best, 12.5lb Tope Scotland. 22/05/2012.
