Well it was a late start this morning and a leisurely arrival at the marina just before nine. The rain just stopped as we were arriving so it was perfectly timed. I wanted to start early but Micky didn't get back from his weeks fishing in Norway until one in the morning.
Out of the piers and with the weather being so good we thought we would try a few marks we were given by a friend last season and do a bit of scouting around for the Bob White comp this weekend.
Out of the piers and searching for mackeral and the birds diving. On finding the birds diving we were soon into coalies, and loads of them, if you could hit the bottom there were loads of 2-3lb cod as well.
We left these fish alone and tried again for mackeral and bagged enough for the day.
First new mark and I hit into a fish straight away and that was the fishing for the day, cracking!

We also added a new species, a wotsit fish for micky!

The cod just kept coming and coming!

And even two at a time for me twice and Micky twice as well!

The species included cod, coalies, pollack, mackeral and ling for today. We didn't expect much as we were trying new ground out but the fishing was truly amazing again. This season has been the best ever for us so far and we aren't even half way yet!The quality of the fish is first class. The biggest today fell to Micky, both Ling and Cod. I thought with my two double hookers I was into a biggy but never mind, it has got to happen soon! Might get a sneeky session in on thursday after I replenish the 50 litres of petrtol we used today and hopefuly the comp on saturday.

Where the hell have you been to use 50 litres of petrol??? The graveyard How did you use that much , I do down to creswell skeres up the 6 mile line to boulmer and back to amble running back and forth up and down drifts on the way on a 25 litre tank ....... and still have enough left to cut the grass with the sit on when I get back home
I know where you've been anyway , I know where them wotsit fish live , there's another wreck with anenomies all over it , don't know whether to pull them off the hooks or cut the line and drop the whole lot overboard when I catch them
See you are back in your berth , was it something I said ?

Wreck? Who said anything about a wreck Ray!!!You must be confused!I am sure I stated "MARK"!!!
I think our first leg of steaming after leaving the piers was 15 miles and then a load of messing around then out a bit further! I am going to reset the trip distance on the plotter and start taking a note for the log of exactly how far we have traveled.
Thursday is a no go so maybe a sneaky nip out on Friday for some pollock lure fishing before fishing the Bob White competition on Saturday.

Well done lads, plenty action by the looks of it.

I feel your pain with the petrol lol.
Think this new government malarky lot should fetch out red petrol especialy for us, none of this claiming the tax back either just plain 0 % tax. Not holding me breath tho lol.

Were you away up north by any chance ! You're not showing the meter on your pics now ! Tried for Pollack on Tuesday night, perfect conditions but only caught about 10 sized, plenty undersized and a double hook up pot tow. See you sat at the comp
