  • Shady report 13/06/15

With Bert on his hols it was just Paul, Stephen and myself this morning, we set off about 5.30am.

I was skipper (off the moorings and to the pier end ) then Stephen took the wheel, we tried the usual inshore wrecks but not a lot was coming in so we headed out to deeper water. As Norman posted, the wrecks were hungry for tackle today but we plugged away and by 8am we had a dozen or so canny cod.

We weren't especially targeting mackerel but we only managed one, strange for mid June. A shame as one wreck fished well with Paul's frozen fillets mixed with squid and we picked a few ling up as well.

As I hadn't slept well, stressing with will the boat run okay etc, something I don't do when the skipper's there, I was knackered by 11.30am so we headed in.

Total for the day 28 cod and 3 ling, biggest about 8lb.

    Cheers lads.
    Cheers, Keith.

Driving is the easy bit, it’s sitting out on deck filleting that I find hard – lack of practice some would say.
Well done to the three of you, that’s a good stamp of fish.
