Well as many will know i am not a fan of comps and today drove home the reason why, i find it hard to chill and have fun and feel under pressure to catch and find fish for my mates on board.....any whhhooooo
Crew Graham as always and Jason
We left the marina at 6.30am with the plan of traveling along way out and fishing a wreck, got the timing spot on and hit the wreck we had planned at 7.52am...just the right time to get the drift right for the 1st drop.
Things were slow, with the drift speed a shocking 1.6k again today, Myself and Jason managed to pull out 2 small codling about 3-4lb in the first couple fo drifts, followed by a couple of ling for Jason and Graham.
It was going to be one of them days for me and i never caught anymore fish from about 8.30am until 11.30am and lost a new record 17 sets of gear but Jason and Graham plugged away taken pollack, ling, codling.
After a few moves around we hit on a couple of marks that held fish, Jason picked the right time to break his duck and land his first double figure cod a nice 10lb 3oz.
Graham also landed a couple of nice ling the best being about 8lb 6oz and at last i started catching with a few small ling upto 5lb, a nice 7lb+ pollack and a couple of cod.
So off we went back home with about 35 cod, pollack and ling keepers between us (lots returned)
So in the under 20ft class comp WE DID A CLEAN SWEEP.
Stingray....
1st Jason with his 10lb 3oz cod
2nd Graham with his 8lb 6oz ling
3rd Me with a 7lb 7oz pollack
So a rod each and a pocket full of cash to end the day
Pics to follow from Graham
