With Graham away working it was time to call in the Growler reserves of Si and Peck.

Everyone was on time as we departured Amble marina at 5am. It wasn't a very warm morning as we motored down to Cresswell and the gusting westerly wind meant the conditions were constantly changing all day.

We were in to fish pretty much from the off. Still a bit patchy but we plugged away all day and managed to land over 30 fish. biggest of the day was a cod of 8.5lb which Si landed, almost breaking his reel in the process! The catch was mostly made up of codling, a few scotchies and one wrasse. Top bait again was ragworm. Managed one cod on a shad even though the water wasn't that clear.

Look away now Graham, bet it is warmer where you are though

Pictures of the day, there might be more on the way but Peck's phone has had a run in with the washing machine:

First few fish of the day including the 8.5lber

    Peck's first wrasse

Picture of the Natalie Kristen charter boat out of Amble, lovely looking catamaran with huge deck space.

All in all a good days fishing, still really waiting for the warm weather and the mackerel to turn up

    Michael.

I've got a few of those monster red/yellow shads - how were they fished with exactly?...I see there isn't a lead head

    Nice one BTW

I always use a 3-way swivel attached at the top to the main line. A very short rotten bottom link for the sinker attached on the bottom and then 3-4 foot of mono for the shad on the side connection.

Then just bounce / jig the shad very close to the bottom.

Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

I'm not in the least bit Jealous Ivan! Honestly! I have only got three weeks and four days until my return from Singapore and work so I will let them catch all the tiddlers before I get back!.

Nutters, you were setting off to go fishing before I got to sleep on Sat morning. This Saturday will be a challenge just getting out of bed in time for the comp.

well done lads. i,m out at Craster tomorrow. Went to Hartlepool today to the Friarage and got some nice rag-squid-mackeral and then a bag of prawns from Morrisons. A lot of bait but i have regretted going out in the past and not having stuff when fish are being caught on say worm.

                      Mick.
