Launched from Beadnell around 10.30 today. Sun was out but a chilly west/northwesterly blowing, started with baited daylights/hokkis/muppets, not much at all, fast drift due to wind and a big tide, eventually managed one codling around 1.5lbs, my mate also got one about the same size.
Anyway carried on fishing, weather calmed down and the sea was smooth for about an hour or so, then the wind picked back up - still no fish!
Decided to anchor up and fish with just bait (lug and rag), this worked instantly but only undersize codling and one scotchie. Headed back in around 5pm.
So the day ended with 2 size fish and about 5 undersize.... to be honest i was dissapointed and slightly disheartened (not that i was expecting bags of large fish) but i was expecting more than just 2 size fish, especially for the effort we put in. Got me thinking about how shocking it is the fact that the sea has been allowed to be raped for almost everything it has....or maybe i'm doing something wrong???
Anyway back out to give it another shot tomorrow so hopefully the tide will have turned (pun intended!!!)
