Glad to see a few boats made it out today off the north east.
We ventured out this morning, leaving the lock about 8 and headed towards skinny to try a couple of wrecks and some rough ground.
The fishing was a bit patchy for us getting the odd fish here and there both off the wrecks and ground.
Had our first couple of mackeral today, canny size aswell, spoke to a few other boats that had also picked up one or two. Not be long till their here in force, bringing the monster cod with them.
We called it a day about 4 and headed back in, but had to wait a while for a naval ship to lock through to the marina before we could get back in.
The day ended with a mixed bag of cod, ling, whiteys, pouting and mackys. Not a load of them but enough to keep us going.
Biggest cod was 6.5lb and bigest ling was just over 5 lb.
Thought we were gonna have our first 2010 doubler aboard today, rod bent double and took some getting in, but it was'nt to be lol.
A big piece of folded steel surfaced lol.
