Decided today,s the day. Launched "Lazy daze" at cullercoats 9am, headed for yellow can of Whitley, chucked the anchor out. Put the first rod out baited with lug, got a codling within a few seconds about 1 1/2lb followed by another 6, best about 4lb. moved of to a wreck about a mile away, picked up 3 more codling, again best about 4lb all on lug. Boat ran great, not much wind, a few fish, back in for 2pm. great start to the season.

Yeh, wasn't sure if there was much out there to catch by all the reports, so it was a nice suprise to pick a few fish up. I did take pics on self timer, but they all came out way over exposed and very hard to see. Forgot, i did have a small problem with engine. Rev counter and engine tilt gauge not working, so taking outfit up to reiver boats for Allen to have a look at. Hope it wont take long to fix.

Hi Chris, I gave you (Jester) a shout on channel 8 on sunday around 11 o' clock, but not sure what channel your usually on. I still need a lot of practice with the gps yet. Arthur

Hi Ivan, It was a canny session. I was talking to Trevor Straker a while back, and he offered to launch me at Newbiggin with the tractor, as the sand is soft so a bit iffy to use the landrover. I know the fishing off Newbiggin can be brilliant, so looking forward to that.

Ah! thats why. The next time i'm afloat, will give you a shout on six. No havn't been back to pier. Normal shore fishing will be resumed in September if the fish return inshore, other than fishing in the retired members of Tynemouth club on Tynemouth pier once a fortnight.
Some nice size coalies there last Friday. Arthur

Never knew you were retired Arthur, thought you would be in your early forties, Must be great to go out on the boat whenever you like, the way you are catching there wont be any fish left for the rest of us, i've still got the work shackles on, .. but when the time comes i'm gonna really enjoy it....
