Managed to sneek out for two or three hours this morning.
It was'nt the best of forcasts so we did'nt expect much, just a chance to charge the batteries really, but managed a few nice codling wich was a bonus.
We set sail about 9 ish to a nice morning and calm sea with just a lazy swell then headed back in about 11.30 when the sea started to get away a bit.
We planned to head north a bit to try a couple of marks, but passing the rough ground off the cranes there was a load of boats anchored up in a group up/down tiding. Was tempted to stop off and join the crowd but stuck to plan A and headed a few miles further north. Did'nt hear much on the radio, wonder if their was much doing off the cranes ?
First stop was a mark named "Pouty Wreck" and it was true to its name on the first drop down for me;
Then "Codfathers father" had a nice cod of around 6lb on the next drop;
Followed by another slightly smaller;
Had a few smaller codling and pouting before heading in to sort the crusted seagull sheehite out.
Not a nation of fish but better than we expected for a couple of hours out and we had an enjoyable morning.
