Well the forcast was spot on boat all ready so was motoring out of blyth at 8am sea in lovely fettle and the plan for the day was to stick to hard ground and not dive all over in the thinking that we would be there when the fish turn on.
Headed across to Newbiggin off the beacons/dulce carrs Dad picked a nice codling up 4.5lb then a one 2lb after an hour it hit slack water and all went dead so used the time to reccy the area and located alot of info on drop offs gullies etc and all marked for future ref.
Drift picked up a little bit which put us over drifts lovely and started to hit a strike zone picking up another 5 codling to 2lb/4lb I was smiling now scores dad 5 me 3 so still had some catchin up to do (I did have 1 mac LOL). We did try lures but all fish coming to mussel bait and orange(Norm) jelly bug, about 2pm abit of an esterly breeze picked up but not a prob as forcast low water hit aprox 4.30pm and dead again so decided to steam back to Cambois closer to home while dead.
Started to randomly drift hard groud behind pier when picking small stuff up and scotchies/Yting then two lads on a boat called Dawn stopped by for abit crack said to get to a mark between two pot dans as they were going in (Thanks lads!!).
Well they were spot on depth 16m fish on the finder bang both in good stuff another two codling about 3lb did the drift again and picked up about 5 to 1.5lb which went back full of fight! Got another 2 keepers not that I'm competetive but dad 7 me 5 then forced ourselves back in as boat doesn't have lights LOL what a great really enjoyable day on what is poss the end of season for us weather eh!!.
Ps Sorry for the late report finished filleting at 9.30pm
