Finaly got out today despite the weather. Set out at 10am with a calmish sea and steamed out of Amble to my favourite and usualy productive mark. fished for around 2hrs in and around the area 1 mile north of the island with only a small cod and 10 macky to show for it.

Tried the back of the island with nothing and then onto hadston with again very little to show apart from the macky which were turning up in numbers.

Finally headed back to the original place to see if the change in tide would reap any rewards. NO, just the macky again.

In all we had around 30 macky and 2 cod still had a good day though must have traveled about 7 mile scratching about though.

This time last year I could'nt fail with cod in these areas, anyone else noticed a decline.

    No pics i'm afraid

George , I was up at boulmer bush on Sunday , I caught dozens of codling , two at a time on mackerel baited hokkais , one at a time on sidewinders , they all went back , none of them were very big mind , most just over keeper size. There were a few mackerel about too , I caught a few and headed out to fish a wreck at high slack water but turned back about .2 of a mile from the wreck when the waves were higher than the boat .......... didn't fancy drifting in that lol.

Never tried that far up only about 2 mile north of the island. Hav'nt got any marks past that yet ;-) . Should realy try as I head off far enough south.
There was plenty of macky knocking about on tue just not many sizeable cod.

Theres always next time I suppose.............

We were fishing near the island Sunday, George. Most of the pollack were from 1/4 to 1/2 mile N to N/W of the island, we did get bothered by mackerel as well. Might pass you sometime, I fish with my friend on the Bold Endeavour whats your boat called? Hope the weather's ok for the boat comp Sunday.

Boats called ABIDAN it a 15ft sea hog type boat red in colour. I launch from the boat club and get out on that rare occasion that my shifts, weather and permission is granted.
