  • Tope fishing trip Mull of Galloway

Me and 3 mates had a trip over to the Mull on Saturday 4th July. in the hope of fishing in Luce Bay for Tope but the weather was wrong so had to launch and fish out from west Tarbert.

It didn't take long to fill a box full of fresh mackeral for bait and off we steamed to anchor at One of Spikes Tope marks.
First hour was quiet, then about 12 o clock my line screamed off the real and i was into the first shark of the day, after playing it for around 10 mins it was landed, unhooked, photographed then returned safely. est. weight is around 35lb.
About an hour later i had another run, but the fish dropped the bait and didn't come back.
The at around 2 o clock i had another run which resulted in another tope of around 25 lb. again safely returned.
That was the only 2 tope caught that day, but we all had loads of pollock on floatfished mackeral strip up to around 4lb which were all safely returned.

Looking farward to doing it all again as soon as i can.
