Well it was a real "Will We?" "Won't We?" kind of start to this weekends fishing

Weather watch resulted in a text friday evening saying it prob won't be on BUT stand by your beds we MAY be out after looking at the conditions in the morning...

Text received at 0723 "It's back on"

After grabbing some bait from Billys I rolled into the RQ at ten past 8...only ten minutes later than the original meet up time

Norman was waiting - but alas no Steve on this occasion...no reasons given, although we feel it may be "self induced" at this time

So with the wind blowing gently in the wrong direction and expectation pretty low we head out of the marina and towards the ocean blue...

"It's not that bad" was the general feeling so we headed for a usual spot - nothing...so we headed out a bit further - nothing...so we headed for a wreck 2 miles out - scotchies ...another wreck...scotchies and so on

After a while and with an eye on the time we headed for the rough ground...our aim was to be in the locale for bottom of low water which was 1030-1100

No sooner had we made the drop than...

A perfectly timed double hit of fish to both anglers...whew

And that was the start of it...we'd drift about a bit hit a patch with 2 or 3 fish in then it'd go quiet...then we'd find another patch and so the trend continued...

The fish kept coming at a steady rate and finally a better one came along...

    Prime 6lb K.E.R.D.

So...a day that started off as a bit of a bonus session given the build-up turned out just peachy in the end

The wind only started to pick up later in the afternoon but up until then it was a fine spring day with glorious sunshine and mild winds

Final tally was 17 Cod to the boat with umpteen scotchies of various sizes and a few small codling put back too

Excellent Day Norman with great craic and great fishing to boot - cheers as ever

Took a few Vids of the day as well...

    And just for Steve...

...and as if that wasn't enough, here's a little something to whet your appetite for later in the year

    Cheers for watching

    until the next time
    Ooh a new vid!

          Well done lads!!!

73' Shirt did the biz again Norm have to say though, you seem to have developed a "Richy Smile" on your second couple of photos

Thanks for the text about the boat Tony, we must of been on the quay knocking seven bells out of bits of go go bits as you past.

Closest we came to fish today was geet big curly one a seal left on the slip just before we launched the dingy, at least we now know where crab sticks come from now.
          Cheers, Keith.

Yer i did a Steve and hit the drink so sacked off today, hitting it Sunday but you put my plans in doubt as i was going to head close in south then hit a few south wrecks but maybe worth trying up there again for a few drops and hitting a few 6mile wrecks (one of your favs Norman) for good luck.

Hope to have some sort of report for you Sunday evening.

HOY ...what's with all the assumptions that it was drink related .

Looks like " team Slinky " had a cracking day ,I was there in spirit lads .

Tony that's one great report and the future of Slinky reports seems to be of a standard never seen before ,this could raise the bar in forum posting .

See you soon Norman ...I have your lead by the way .

And a l;ast comment from me ......why wasn't I up at this time yesterday !!
You can take the lad out of Walker but .......

Aye steve nee bother, see you next week ....... looks like we`d better get in training for next Saturday as the tide tables say 4.30am start (maybe 5.00).
Just as an out take, (probably to go with the grimaces ) rather than being presumptious yesterday since it was unknown just how the sea was going to pan out and we could well be back after 15 mins, Tony decided not to unpack the fish boxes and left them together (three in one).
Then all of sudden we realised we had a full box of fish with more coming in by the minute. It was like a scene from a Laurel and Hardy movie as we tried to seperate boxes whilst the top one was full .......... which ended up with a strained back to myself and a strained neck to tony ..... oh and fish all over the deck as we gave up and emptied out first. Moral I suppose always expect ... just in case it happens

Got to admit Norman...when we finally got back to the fishing after that protracted episode I thought we'd lost the momentum with the fish as the bites seemingly died off again - thankfully they came back for some more

Few fish on rough ground today, same stamp 2-4lbers...nothing at all on the wrecks not a bloody bite..other than the wreck 4 times

Sea was ok today but wind got up about 2pm so heading back in..nice to get out and get a few but still dead on the wrecks i tried.

Drifted over millions of small herring about 5 miles out, fish finder was going mad then looke dover the side and a sea of silver flashes..tried a drop but nothing feeding on them, good sign thou.
