Well it was a real "Will We?" "Won't We?" kind of start to this weekends fishing
Weather watch resulted in a text friday evening saying it prob won't be on BUT stand by your beds we MAY be out after looking at the conditions in the morning...
Text received at 0723 "It's back on"
After grabbing some bait from Billys I rolled into the RQ at ten past 8...only ten minutes later than the original meet up time
Norman was waiting - but alas no Steve on this occasion...no reasons given, although we feel it may be "self induced" at this time
So with the wind blowing gently in the wrong direction and expectation pretty low we head out of the marina and towards the ocean blue...
"It's not that bad" was the general feeling so we headed for a usual spot - nothing...so we headed out a bit further - nothing...so we headed for a wreck 2 miles out - scotchies ...another wreck...scotchies and so on
After a while and with an eye on the time we headed for the rough ground...our aim was to be in the locale for bottom of low water which was 1030-1100
No sooner had we made the drop than...
A perfectly timed double hit of fish to both anglers...whew
And that was the start of it...we'd drift about a bit hit a patch with 2 or 3 fish in then it'd go quiet...then we'd find another patch and so the trend continued...
The fish kept coming at a steady rate and finally a better one came along...
Prime 6lb K.E.R.D.
So...a day that started off as a bit of a bonus session given the build-up turned out just peachy in the end
The wind only started to pick up later in the afternoon but up until then it was a fine spring day with glorious sunshine and mild winds
Final tally was 17 Cod to the boat with umpteen scotchies of various sizes and a few small codling put back too
Excellent Day Norman with great craic and great fishing to boot - cheers as ever
Took a few Vids of the day as well...
And just for Steve...
...and as if that wasn't enough, here's a little something to whet your appetite for later in the year
Cheers for watching
until the next time
