Thanks everyone for all the advice lately. I have tried to put some into practise...
I took my Step Dad out and it was my first outing of the year.
We drifted several patches of rough ground and wrecks. My Dad was losing enthusiasm when he had a double shot on baited hokeyes, the bigger going a tad under 4lb.
We both started concentrating and after a few more succesful drifts we had several pout and a couple more codling, the best one of mine going 5lb 2oz (despite being the same length as the 4lb fish, but much broader)
We drifted another wreck and a reef on the way back in picking up the odd fish. It was a good day, nice and sunny with quite a few fish, but I think it will get better.
My fish is the heaviest I have weighed on the boat so I will be claiming that as the boat record I think!
When I gutted the 5lber he had a quite big digested white fish (pout?) in him. I was suprised he had any room for hokeyes!
