  • boat house and a couple of fish

decided to have a go at the boathouse today , met up with davey for a 8 am start and was it cold compared to the recent weather
    davey modelling his new pfd

we headed out to a reef not to far out in 30 feet of water with a bit of swell rolling in from the north ,anchored up and baited up one rod with a pennel rig baited with a whole squid ,while the other rod had a one up one down rig baited with mossel and frozen blacks

davey had a couple of fish straight off then it went dead and all that was happening was that we were getting snagged up on the reef all the time with the wind and swell bouncing us about a bit , so a move was in order
we headed out to a nice drop off with about 50 foot of water and dropped the pick down
first drop as soon as it hit the bottom fish on a nice cod to stop the blank and something for my tea

    then a pouting

then a salmon jumped out the water about ten foot away from daveys yak dont usually see them this late up here ,would of been good if it had of landed on his yak lol

that was it a nice few hours out and a taste of the cold weather for the months ahead
    a few more pics

    thanks for reading jeff

Well done catching a couple of fish. I launched the yak from Whitburn had a couple of bites but couldn't get them to stick, as soon as the tide turned it went dead. Nice day to be out.

Not anchored as it was a very slow drift. When the tide turned we were almost static.

One day warm, next day cold, but hey, it's the end of October. Well done getting out and scoring.

Iye well done Jeff, nice to see the odd fish still being taken from the kayak. I'm still venturing off the cliffs at Marsden for the odd decent fish, but I'm not to sure about the thought of undertaking any nightime sessions. I know its halloween, but scary or what!
