  • Craster with Douggie.

Set off this morning in doubtful conditions as swell looked biggish at Craster. Doug steamed up off Low Newton and into deep water which looked clear. Steady stream of Codlings were being caught on baited hockeyes and daylights. Unshelled Prawns were the dynamite bait. My mate Paul Halpin had 25 Cod using this method. All a good stamp of fish. I struggled as I am not a beliver in taking bait and was hoping for fresh mackerel. I got one Mackeral and my mate Derek who had caught about 20 gave me on. 3 Hook Hokkais sent down baited with fresh mackerel and BANG caught ths fella.

Ling over 9lb. Everyone did well and everyone enyoyed the day be it at times a bit lumpy.
    Mick.

Well done on the Ling Mick, and a nice report.
It's also pleasing to read of a catch report further up our coast, especially the respectable haul of Cod.
            Well done.

We must have had on the boat over 100 fish easily. Biggest Cod about 5 lb. I seem to be over the sea sickness now. Good tablets, getting used to it,and not gutting fish in diesel fumes when I bend over helps.
